As a last resort and with the authorization of the coroner and the Mississippi State Crime lab, one of the investigators working on the case made a call that Saturday to AD&S, Inc. (a local biometric company) and requested a portable fingerprinting system in an attempt to get fingerprints of the decedent for identification purposes. The local company responded with their portable system. With the coroner’s assistance, one of the company’s expert technicians was able to capture a full set of fingerprints from the decedent. Bingo!!
Once these fingerprints were made available to the MBI (Mississippi Bureau of Investigation) they transmitted these fingerprints to the State and FBI and had an identity within minutes.
Families and friends of every person deserve to know “what happened” to their loved one, rather than wonder for years why they “disappeared” without notification.
We applaud the efforts of ALL our first responders and the level of their dedication as state and local agencies pulled together to get the job done. The investigation included the cooperative efforts of the MS Bureau of Investigations; MS Bureau of Narcotics; MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks; the Rankin County Coroner’s Office; the Sheriff’s Departments of Rankin, Hinds, and Madison; and the Flowood, Pearl, and Jackson Police Departments. We also had the Flowood Fire Department, Byram Fire Department, and the Emergency Operations Center of Rankin, Hinds, and Madison Counties.
